Lower Pottsgrove School Welcomes Students with New Transportation App and Pre K Counts Update

The Pottsgrove School Board convened on August 12, 2025, to discuss preparations for the upcoming school year and recognize board members for their service. The meeting began with an announcement that the first day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Superintendent Dr. Finney emphasized the importance of completing the first day packets, which are essential for transportation and parent communication. Families can expect to receive bus letters by August 18, and improvements to transportation services were highlighted, including the introduction of Transfinder software. A new parent app, Stopfinder, will be launched later in the fall, allowing parents to track their child's bus in real time.

The board also discussed before and after care services, which will be offered in partnership with the YMCA, contingent on student registration numbers. Additionally, the Pre K Counts program has relocated to Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, with a full classroom of 15 students currently enrolled. There is potential for additional funding to accommodate five more students, and interested families are encouraged to contact the school for waitlist registration.

Dr. Finney acknowledged the success of summer programming, which served 146 students through various initiatives, including summer success and extended school year programs. He expressed gratitude to the staff who dedicated their summer to support these students.

The meeting concluded with the recognition of three board members for their service. President Jay Strunk was honored for five years of service, while Ashley Custer and Jim Popnick were celebrated for their ten years of commitment to the district. Dr. Finney thanked them for their significant volunteer contributions.
