Fort Pierce officials are prioritizing critical infrastructure improvements, with a strong focus on wastewater management and storm resilience. During the recent City Commission meeting, leaders outlined plans to complete the wastewater plant within the first three months of the fiscal year, followed by significant conveyance redirection efforts throughout the year.
The electric department is set to receive $14 million, representing 14% of the budget, aimed primarily at enhancing storm hardening and grid resiliency. This investment is crucial as the city prepares for potential weather challenges.
Additionally, a notable $10 million will be allocated for storm hardening at the Administrative Building, specifically targeting the Emergency Services Command (ESC) Building, which has been in operation since 1992. These initiatives underscore Fort Pierce's commitment to strengthening its infrastructure and ensuring the safety and reliability of essential services for its residents.
