Adoption rates at the Bedford Animal Shelter are showing a mixed bag of results as the fiscal year progresses. During the period from April to June 2025, dog adoptions saw a slight increase, rising from 31 to 29 compared to the previous year. Notably, the shelter's proactive field efforts have led to a significant boost in returns to owners, climbing from 57 to 72.

Euthanasia rates for dogs have also seen a positive decline, dropping from 15 to 8, indicating improved outcomes for the shelter's canine residents. However, the number of rescues has decreased from 24 to 14. The total intake of dogs has also fallen, from 136 to 120.

On the feline front, cat adoptions dipped from 30 to 25, with returns to owners plummeting from 9 to just 2. Euthanasia rates for cats remained steady at 7. In a bright spot, the shelter's partnerships with rescue organizations have surged, with the number of cats pushed out to rescues skyrocketing from 4 to 49.
