The Seaside City Council meeting on August 7, 2025, featured discussions on community concerns, notable achievements, and recent improvements in the city.
Bobby Maxwell, chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Commission, addressed the council regarding parking issues in the area. He expressed frustration over the lack of available parking during council meetings, sharing his personal experience of having to park far away due to limited spaces. Maxwell suggested that the ample parking near local facilities, such as the Wheeler Tennis Courts and Petullo Swim Center, could be utilized better, encouraging residents to walk from these locations to their destinations.
In a positive note, Maxwell highlighted the accomplishments of Dominique Davis, a local resident who recently graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School. He praised her contributions to the community and expressed pride in her achievements.
Ray Reardon, a concerned citizen, also spoke during the meeting. He thanked the mayor for appointing a new member to the Neighborhood Improvement Committee, Stephanie Sprouse, noting the importance of having a full committee. Reardon commended the recent upgrades on Hilby Avenue, which he said have improved traffic flow, and he remarked on the successful cleanup efforts in downtown Seaside, which have enhanced the area’s appearance.
The meeting underscored the council's commitment to addressing community concerns while celebrating local achievements and improvements.
