The Jenks Planning Commission convened on August 7, 2025, to discuss the proposed development of a food hall located on the Aquarium Campus, north of the aquarium and east of Aquarium Drive. This project, previously conditionally approved in 2023 under the name PUD 1 37, has faced delays due to outstanding agreements and approvals.

The food hall is designed to feature up to ten restaurant concepts, similar to Tulsa's Mother Road Market, and will include a commercial kitchen and outdoor seating. The intended uses for the space encompass dining, drinking, and entertainment. The current zoning classification is riverfront tourist commercial, and the project must adhere to specific requirements set forth by the Jenks Aquarium Authority and the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation.

During the meeting, planners highlighted the complexities surrounding the project, including the need for off-site parking due to the site's limited size. The developers have proposed a parking plan that includes 184 stalls, which meets the required number of spaces after a potential 20% reduction in parking requirements. The commission emphasized the importance of maximizing the Northwest Parking Lot while preserving parkland in the surrounding area.

The proposed design has evolved from an iconic glass structure to a more industrial aesthetic featuring brick and iron materials. The commission reviewed various design elements, including signage, which will need to comply with local regulations.

As the project moves forward, the developers are expected to finalize agreements with the aquarium authorities and address any remaining conditions before the proposal is presented to the city council for approval. The outcome of this project could significantly enhance the local dining and entertainment landscape, contributing to the area's economic development.
