Village Board Approves $564K Telecommunication Easement Sale to Towerpoint Acquisitions

The Village of Dolton has taken significant steps to enhance its financial standing following a recent board meeting held on August 4, 2025. The board unanimously approved the sale of an easement at 14440 Greenwood Road for $228,000 and another at 401 East 140th Street for $336,000. These transactions are expected to provide a much-needed boost to the village's finances, particularly as it recovers from past administrative oversights that resulted in lost revenue from agreements with Comcast. The current administration discovered that the village was owed $160,000 in back payments from Comcast for the use of cell tower space, which has now been resolved.

Trustee discussions highlighted the importance of these sales, emphasizing that they not only provide immediate financial relief but also establish a steady income stream of approximately $30,000 annually from each location, with potential increases tied to the cost of living.
