Residents of Sunnyvale voiced strong opposition to proposed changes on Tasman Drive during the City Council meeting on July 29, 2025. Denise, a local resident, emphasized that Dothman Drive serves as the primary access point for many communities, and the proposed alterations would lead to significant traffic backups for thousands of residents and workers. She pointed out that there are no viable alternative routes for commuters living in nearby parks, making the situation even more critical. Denise also highlighted the importance of the existing light rail system on Tasman Drive, which provides essential access to grocery stores and other services.

In addition to the traffic concerns, Denise noted that the city is planning to enhance the East Channel Trail, which would offer a safer route for cyclists and pedestrians. This new path aims to alleviate the dangers associated with using Fair Oaks and Lawrence Expressway, both of which are considered unsafe for non-motorized traffic.

Another resident, Casey Gallardo, presented petitions signed by 1,171 individuals opposing the changes to Tasman Drive. The overwhelming response from the community underscores the urgency of addressing these concerns before any decisions are finalized.
