City Officials Celebrate MacArthur Park Revitalization with Community and State Funding

The completion of the MacArthur Park Rehabilitation Project was celebrated in Long Beach, marking a significant milestone for the community. Leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration, highlighting that the park's transformation was made possible through partnerships with various organizations and extensive community feedback.

During the celebration, officials expressed gratitude to the AOC 7 neighborhood group and the Friends of MacArthur Park, who will play a crucial role in maintaining and activating the park. The Parks, Recreation, and Marine team, along with Public Works, were also recognized for their hard work on this project, which follows the recent remodeling of the MLK Pool.

A key highlight of the project was the securing of $8.5 million in state funding, thanks to the efforts of Senator Lena Gonzalez and Speaker Anthony Rendon. Their commitment to uplifting neighborhoods in need has been a driving force behind the park's revitalization.

The newly renovated park features a range of improvements, including a basketball court with upgraded lighting, a new walking path equipped with fitness stations, and a fully accessible playground designed for all ages. Additional enhancements include shaded seating areas, an improved picnic space, and landscaping that reflects the cultural heritage of Cambodia Town.
