Harnett County is gearing up for significant economic development with the upcoming construction of a 175,000 square-foot building at Edgerton Industrial Park, set to break ground after Labor Day 2025. This project is part of a larger vision for the industrial park, which could ultimately feature around 800,000 square feet of space across multiple buildings.

During a recent Board of Commissioners work session, officials highlighted the partnership with an alliance that has invested in the county's growth. The first building will be subdividable, catering to various business needs, whether they require 25,000 or 100,000 square feet. The site also boasts an additional 50 acres, enhancing its appeal for future projects.

The development is supported by a grant from the Golden Leaf Foundation, which has funded over half a million dollars for engineering assessments. These evaluations have revealed two distinct areas on the property, allowing for buildings of different sizes—up to 10,000 square feet in one section and between 50,000 to 100,000 square feet in another. This strategic planning positions Harnett County to attract a diverse range of businesses, bolstering local economic growth.

As the project progresses, officials remain optimistic about the potential for increased inquiries and submissions for various projects, ensuring that Harnett County remains competitive in the industrial sector.
