Milton City officials are prioritizing critical upgrades to community facilities as they prepare for the FY26 budget, with a focus on enhancing safety and comfort for residents. Key discussions during the July 19, 2025, budget workshop highlighted the urgent need for air conditioning replacement at the community center, which has been without functional AC for some time. The current system, dating back to 2000, is obsolete, and officials estimate a replacement timeline of 6 to 8 weeks once funding is secured.

Public Works Director emphasized the importance of addressing the AC issue promptly to avoid escalating repair costs. "If your intent is to fund the AC replacement... I would encourage us to go ahead and do it," he stated, underscoring the critical nature of the situation.

In addition to the AC replacement, the city is considering several capital projects, including $1 million for River Walk improvements funded through grants, and $500,000 for community center expansion. Safety concerns were also raised regarding the aging light poles at Hindle Park, which have posed risks in the past. Officials noted that previous attempts to address the issue fell short, necessitating an additional $200,000 to fully replace the poles and upgrade electrical components.

As the city moves forward with these discussions, the focus remains on ensuring safe and comfortable public spaces for all residents. The anticipated upgrades are expected to significantly enhance community facilities, addressing both immediate safety concerns and long-term infrastructure needs.
