RC Development proposes new townhomes in Crown Point zoning meeting

Crown Point's Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) made significant strides towards enhancing local housing options during their special meeting on May 15, 2025. The board unanimously recommended approval for a new townhome development, spearheaded by RC Development, which is expected to begin construction in July.

Rick Locosto, the owner of RC Development, presented his experience in the construction industry, highlighting his 30 years of work in high-rise projects in Chicago. He emphasized that the proposed townhomes would be a suitable addition to the existing neighborhood, which is currently zoned for business use. Locosto's vision aligns with the community's needs for more residential options, making this development a timely response to local housing demands.

The board opened the floor for public comments, but no community members voiced concerns or support during the meeting. Following this, a motion was made by board member Mister Sowerman to recommend the project favorably to the city council, which was seconded by Mister Marshall. The motion passed without further discussion, reflecting the board's confidence in the project.

The city council will review the proposal during their upcoming meeting on June 2, where further discussions and questions are anticipated. This development marks a proactive step towards diversifying housing in Crown Point, potentially benefiting residents seeking new living options in the area.
