Salinas Airport Prepares for 44th Annual California International Air Show with Blue Angels

The 2025 California International Air Show is set to soar at Salinas Airport this October, marking its 44th year with an exciting lineup that includes the return of the Blue Angels. During the Airport Commission meeting on July 24, excitement was palpable as officials detailed plans for the event, scheduled for October 4, which coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy and Marines.

Commissioner Eric highlighted the significance of this year's show, noting the Blue Angels will be flying the larger F/A-18 Super Hornets, a first for Salinas since their last appearance in 2019. "It's going to be a great show," he said, emphasizing the thrilling performances expected from both military and civilian aircraft.

A special tribute will be paid to Everett Alvarez, a local hero and the first naval aviator shot down in Vietnam, who will be honored during the event. Alvarez, a Salinas native and notable figure in U.S. history, will be celebrated alongside the Blue Angels, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Ticket sales are reportedly strong, bolstered by extensive social media marketing, with further promotional efforts ramping up around Labor Day. The meeting also addressed logistical improvements from previous years, including a successful crowd line relocation that enhanced safety and spectator experience.
