Davie Town Council Considers Digital Billboard Applications for Boys and Girls Club Funding

Brian Hague, representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, expressed apprehension about the proximity of one of the proposed signs to their temple. He urged the council to consider relocating the sign to preserve the aesthetic and spiritual integrity of the sacred site.

Despite these concerns, council members expressed support for the billboard project, recognizing the potential benefits for local youth programs. One council member noted the changing landscape of funding for such initiatives, highlighting the increasing reliance on private donations as state and federal support dwindles.

As the meeting progressed, the council moved towards a vote on the applications, with discussions indicating a willingness to conditionally approve the certifications, pending a formal agreement between the Boys and Girls Club and the town.
