Wilcox noted that the election cycle is particularly demanding, especially in an election year with multiple elections scheduled. He explained that many staff members had to cancel their personal time off due to the workload associated with the elections, including a special congressional election that took place in January and another in April. Despite these challenges, Wilcox praised his finance team for their efficiency in filing for reimbursements, ensuring that the county received funds promptly.

A key point of discussion was the process for vote-by-mail requests. Wilcox clarified that these requests must be renewed every two years and can be submitted online, requiring personal identifiable information to match county records. He mentioned that the elections office proactively reaches out to voters whose requests have expired, ensuring they are informed about the renewal process.

Looking ahead, Wilcox indicated that the office has approximately 3,000 vote-by-mail requests on file for the city of Ocala and plans to send out additional mailings to voters in other parts of the county as the next election approaches. This proactive approach aims to enhance voter participation and streamline the voting process for residents.
