The City of Upland's Planning Commission recently discussed an exciting development project that aims to enhance the Mountain Green Shopping Center. The proposal involves subdividing a 6.8-acre parcel to create two new drive-thru restaurant sites, including a McDonald's, which is set to bring new dining options to the community.

Located at 233 South Mountain Avenue, the project will maintain the existing Orland's furniture building while introducing two additional parcels. The first new parcel will be designated for a future tenant, while the second will house a McDonald's restaurant featuring a drive-thru. The McDonald's will occupy 0.75 acres and include a dining area with seating for 47 patrons, alongside a fully equipped kitchen.

The development is part of the regional commercial zone, which supports retail and restaurant uses, and is strategically positioned at the southwest corner of Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue. The site plan also includes plans for restriping the parking lot and enhancing the landscaping, which will cover about 20% of the area. This will feature a 10-foot landscaping strip along both Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue, as well as new landscaping at the end of each parking row.

The modern architectural design of the McDonald's, standing at 22 feet tall, aims to create a visually appealing addition to the shopping center. The enhancements to the site are expected to improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of the area, providing residents with more dining choices and a better shopping experience.

As the project moves forward, it reflects the city's commitment to fostering economic growth and improving community amenities. The Planning Commission's approval marks a significant step towards revitalizing the Mountain Green Shopping Center and meeting the needs of Upland residents.
