A significant change discussed was the shift from requiring conservation plans to agricultural water quality plans, due to staffing limitations at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Board members agreed that applicants who reached the initial rankings must submit their water quality plans before the August meeting. This step aims to ensure that all necessary farming practices are documented prior to final rankings.

In addition to the appraisal discussions, the board addressed communication with applicants regarding their agricultural plans. It was suggested that letters be sent to all applicants to keep them informed about the new requirements and to reduce inquiries to board members.

The meeting also touched on financial matters, including an update on an invoice from the conservation district, which is currently being negotiated. Board members expressed a preference for supporting the program in the upcoming fall season, contingent on proper publicity.

Lastly, members were encouraged to attend Ag Day, an event designed to provide insights into the board's Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) farms, highlighting the importance of community engagement in agricultural initiatives. The meeting concluded with plans to reconvene in August to further discuss these developments and their implications for local farming practices.
