Maria Lombardo, chief deputy director standing in for Executive Director Tilly Chang, said staff worked with the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA) and the John Stewart Company on an application for $7,000,000 in operating funds from the state’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program to support a Treasure Island electric ferry service to be operated by SF Bay Ferry. Lombardo said the application also sought additional funds for a bus shelter at the ferry terminal and that grant award announcements are anticipated in December 2025.

Lombardo reported interim ferry ridership trends have been increasing: the agency reached more than 47,000 rides in 2024, and 2025 has seen an average of about 100 daily riders, which Lombardo described as roughly 64% higher than the first quarter of the prior year. Lombardo and staff said they are preparing a Treasure Island Ferry business plan to bring to the TIMA committee and the board later this fall.

Dorsey also announced a grand opening for Cityside Park on Saturday, Sept. 13, and encouraged attendance. There were no public comments on the informational items.
