The new structure aims to provide a more traditional restroom experience, replacing the existing compost restroom that has served its purpose but falls short of modern standards. “The park itself does not have a restroom that services it except for the compost restroom,” Andrews explained, highlighting the need for improved amenities for park-goers.

In addition to restroom upgrades, the council discussed a $700,000 investment in a new playground at Nelson Park. This playground will feature parallel play structures, similar to those at Rose Park, and is designed to accommodate the high volume of visitors that the park attracts. The existing playground, one of the oldest in the city, will be replaced to ensure safety and enhance the play experience for children.

One member suggested that certain projects could be delayed, hoping for increased funding from other sources in the future.
