During the recent City Council meeting in La Habra on July 21, 2025, the council took time to honor two significant contributors to the community: Lisa Reken, the curator of the Children's Museum, and the Pumas FC boys soccer team.

Lisa Reken was recognized for her 25 years of dedicated service to the Children's Museum. Since joining in June 2000, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the museum's exhibits and overall vision. As curator, Reken has designed over 60 gallery exhibits and overseen 16 major renovations, leaving a lasting impact on the museum's spaces. Her work has not only garnered multiple city awards but has also been featured in local media and national conferences. The council emphasized that her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

In addition to honoring Reken, the council recognized the Pumas FC boys soccer team for their recent achievements. Head coach Alfred Flores shared that the team had won the state cup and is currently ranked number one in Southern California. They also represented California at the Far West Regionals in Idaho, where they competed against teams from other states. The council applauded the team's hard work and dedication, highlighting the importance of youth sports in fostering community spirit and teamwork.

The meeting concluded with a call for the audience to exit the council chamber, allowing the council to proceed with the rest of their agenda.
