The Colorado MLRB held a Zoom meeting on July 16, 2025, to discuss the status of a permit application that had faced scrutiny from objectors. The meeting focused on the progress made since the initial submission in November 2024, which was deemed incomplete by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS).
During the meeting, it was reported that the permit package was reissued in early December 2024 after addressing the concerns raised by DRMS. By December 16, the application was confirmed as complete, allowing the review process to commence.
A significant point of discussion involved objections related to water quality and pollution, particularly concerning sediment issues. The representatives from FRACCO, the company involved in the permit application, acknowledged these concerns and noted that DRMS had issued adequacy letters addressing three specific issues. Each of these concerns was addressed independently as the process progressed.
The meeting underscored the ongoing dialogue between the company and regulatory bodies, highlighting the importance of environmental considerations in the permit review process. Further discussions are expected as the review continues, with stakeholders keenly observing the developments.
