Warren County officials are taking significant steps to address homelessness with the approval of two resolutions aimed at developing a new homeless shelter. During the recent Board of Supervisors meeting on June 20, 2025, Social Services Commissioner Nina Mastriati and guest Jason McLaughlin, Executive Director of the White House, presented the proposals, which are set to be carried out by Lakehouse.

The resolutions, numbered 2-11 and 2-12, are pivotal in the county's efforts to enhance support for vulnerable populations. The Human Services Committee is scheduled to meet on June 23 to further discuss the implementation of these initiatives, signaling a proactive approach to tackling homelessness in the region.

In addition to the resolutions on homelessness, the meeting also highlighted other community-focused discussions. Supervisor Crusino reported on the recent meeting of the Occupancy Tax Coordination Committee, which resulted in a resolution to update the online version of the occupancy tax grant application for conventions and events. This update aims to streamline the application process, making it easier for organizations to access funding for local events.

Moreover, Supervisor Strainer shared updates from the Health Services Committee, including a resolution to amend an agreement with the Salvation Army for senior nutrition programs and another to support the Warren Washington Homeless Youth Coalition. These initiatives reflect the county's commitment to enhancing services for both seniors and youth in need.

The meeting concluded with a call for community engagement, particularly for the upcoming Human Services Committee meeting, which aims to gather input and foster collaboration among stakeholders.
