The City of Mineral Wells welcomed two new members to its public safety team during the recent city council meeting on July 15, 2025. Kelly Kawata, a retired peace officer with experience in code enforcement, has joined the code enforcement team. She recently completed her training and is preparing to take her state test for her code enforcement license.
In addition, Officer Timber Blaster was introduced as the newest full-time police officer. A recent graduate of the Vernon Junior College Police Academy, Blaster has a background as a cavalry scout in the Army and is currently in the reserves. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community and is eager to provide the best service possible.
The meeting also highlighted the contributions of long-serving city employees. David Fitzhugh, who has dedicated 25 years to the water distribution department, was recognized for his caring approach to both citizens and colleagues. Seth Jacobson, with a decade of service, was acknowledged for his versatility and significant contributions across various roles, particularly in facility maintenance and welding.
These personnel changes and recognitions reflect the city’s commitment to enhancing public safety and maintaining a dedicated workforce, ensuring that Mineral Wells continues to thrive.
