A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to recognizing the Whitesboro Fire EMS and Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department for their exceptional service. The court presented a proclamation honoring these first responders for receiving the Texas EMS First Responder Award for Critical Save of the Year. This award was in recognition of their heroic actions during a challenging emergency on May 21, 2024, where they successfully responded to a premature birth incident involving an infant born at just 26 weeks gestation.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the team performed life-saving measures, including resuscitation and emergency transport, which ultimately led to the infant's survival and discharge from the NICU without neurological defects. The proclamation highlighted the dedication and skill of the responders, specifically naming paramedics Nathan Jolley and Jeff Patterson, EMT Jonathan Sheffield, and dispatch personnel Lisa Whitten, Craig Reed, and Dary Stone.

The resolution was adopted unanimously and will be entered into the official record as a tribute to the bravery and commitment of these individuals. After the presentation, the responders were congratulated, and the court encouraged them to stay for the remainder of the meeting or to leave if they had other commitments.
