A new automated car wash is set to make its debut in Forney, Texas, following a unanimous vote by the City Council to approve a conditional use permit during the meeting on July 15, 2025. The proposed car wash will be located on 1.893 acres of land east of North FM 548 and west of Whaling Drive, just north of the 711 at the Gateway and FM 548 intersection.

City officials highlighted that the concept plan includes three stacking lanes for the main car wash tunnel, along with an adjacent retail building. The zoning for this area falls under the Meadowlidge Farm Gateway plan development district, which requires a conditional use permit for car washes to operate.

The Planning and Zoning Commission had previously reviewed the proposal and recommended approval, adding a stipulation for screening along the property line adjacent to the Primrose School childcare facility. This measure aims to ensure that the car wash does not disrupt the nearby daycare environment, with options for landscape or masonry screening.

After a brief public hearing, where no comments were made, the council moved swiftly to approve the motion, which will now be assigned ordinance number 25 12. This decision marks a significant step in the development of commercial services in Forney, aligning with the city's comprehensive master plan and zoning ordinance. The next phase will involve a detailed site plan approval, paving the way for the car wash's construction.
