City Council approves final payment and settlement with Harris Trucking for wastewater project

This project, originally contracted in 2019, encountered issues with a floating cover that did not meet specifications. A negotiated settlement was reached between the city, Harris Trucking, and their subcontractor to resolve these issues.

Bowman outlined four main actions to be taken: the issuance of final completion for the project, approval of a final payment of $52,705.34, the release of retainage held in escrow at a local bank, and a letter of relinquishment concerning a loan from the Office of State Lands and Investments. The city plans to relinquish the remaining $3 on the loan and enter repayment.

Following the presentation, the council moved to approve the release of retainage to Harris Trucking. Council member McIsaac made the motion, which was seconded by council member Sweat. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting then transitioned to the next agenda item, which included the first reading of ordinance 2025-18. Overall, the council's actions reflect a commitment to resolving outstanding issues from the wastewater treatment project while ensuring financial accountability and compliance with contractual obligations.
