Sunnyvale Council recognizes new hires and promotes three firefighter paramedics

The meeting began with the introduction of Robert Thomas, the new Senior Building Inspector. With nearly two decades of experience in the inspection industry, Thomas brings a wealth of knowledge to Sunnyvale. His credentials include being a licensed master electrician and a past president of the Texas chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. His diverse interests, ranging from hot air balloons to rodeos, add a personal touch to his professional background.

Next, the council welcomed Mike Morton, a seasoned police officer with 27 years of service, primarily with the Colony Police Department. Morton, a father of two, is expected to enhance the Sunnyvale Police Department with his extensive experience in supervision and detective work.

The evening continued with a significant recognition for Laura Evans, a Senior Planner who recently earned her American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification. This prestigious credential is a testament to her commitment to ethical planning and her deep knowledge of the field, marking a notable achievement in her career.

The council also celebrated the promotion of three firefighter paramedics to the newly established rank of driver engineer. Kevin Dodd, Jason Rogers, and Mike Tracy were recognized for their exemplary service and leadership qualities. Dodd, with nearly 15 years of experience, is known for his meticulous approach to firefighting. Rogers, who joined the department just a year ago, has quickly earned the respect of his peers for his competitive spirit and leadership. Tracy, who has over a decade of experience, is recognized for his calm demeanor and team-first attitude.
