Collierville board approves amendment to Quad County Landfill disposal contract

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened on July 14, 2025, to discuss several key agenda items, with a focus on public works and community services.

The meeting began with a presentation by Josh Russell, the Public Works Director, regarding a contract amendment and renewal for landfill disposal services with Quad County Landfill. Russell explained that the existing contract, initiated in July 2020, was a five-year agreement with an option for an additional five years. This amendment marks the first increase in rates since the contract's inception. The current disposal rate is $19.94 per ton, which will increase to $21.14 per ton, resulting in an estimated additional cost of $20,268 based on the average annual tonnage of approximately 16,800 tons.

Russell provided a comparative analysis, noting that neighboring municipalities, such as Bartlett and Memphis, utilize Republic's North and South Shelby Landfills and pay different rates. He emphasized that continuing the contract with Quad County Landfill remains the best option for Collierville.

After Russell's presentation, the board was invited to ask questions, but no inquiries were raised. The board then moved to consider a motion regarding the contract amendment.
