EDC board updates Harris Street and downtown drainage projects progress

The Fulshear Economic Development Corporation (EDC) meeting on July 14, 2025, highlighted significant progress on key infrastructure projects, particularly on Harris Street. Project manager Matthew Riley provided updates on the ongoing construction, revealing that a 6-inch conduit for communications and a 4-inch conduit for electrical work are nearing completion on the east and west sides of Harris Street, respectively.

A notable challenge arose during the construction when an old abandoned propane tank was discovered, requiring careful removal by city staff. Despite this setback, the project is moving forward, with road paving for Phase 1 expected to begin within the next month, weather permitting. The EDC reported that 402 feet of a 12-inch sanitary sewer line has been installed, marking a significant milestone in the project.

The anticipated completion date for the entire project is November 2025, with 24% of the budget already expended and 69% of the project timeline utilized. While the road will be substantially completed by November, final touches, including landscaping, will follow in the subsequent 30 days.

In addition to the Harris Street updates, the EDC announced that the Eastside drainage project has received approval from TxDOT, paving the way for it to go out for bid soon. This development is expected to enhance drainage in the downtown area, further supporting Fulshear's growth and infrastructure needs.
