Cleveland invests in Shaker Square improvements and seeks private funding

These initiatives are seen as "low hanging fruit" that can be implemented quickly, with landscaping improvements also on the agenda.

However, the conversation highlighted a challenge: the larger infrastructure projects, particularly the development of green spaces and promenades, require additional funding. Currently, Shaker Square is not designated as an Opportunity Zone, which limits certain financial resources. City officials are hopeful that this status may change by 2027, opening up new avenues for investment.
