Chattanooga firefighter Travis Crouch sworn in as Brentwood's newest firefighter

During the recent Brentwood City Commission meeting held on July 14, 2025, several noteworthy discussions highlighted the community's commitment to public safety and the recognition of local heroes.

The meeting began with a celebration of Brentwood's first responders who participated in the World Police and Fire Games in Birmingham, Alabama. Firefighter Alex Ackles showcased his skills in the CrossFit competition, while Daniel Hillis competed in Shotgun Trap. Notably, a team of firefighters, including Charles Bimke, Ryan Helgren, Derek Kirschner, Jared Hawkins, and Paul Stein, not only medaled in the Firefighter Combat Challenge but also set multiple world records. Ryan Steely earned a gold medal in wrestling, and Paul Grieve excelled in mountain biking, medaling in two categories. This recognition underscores the dedication and talent of Brentwood's emergency personnel.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the deployment of Lieutenant Derek Kirschner and Lieutenant Jeremy Keff, who, along with other members of Tennessee Task Force 2, are currently assisting in flood recovery efforts in Texas. Their deployment, expected to last two to three weeks, highlights the city's commitment to supporting communities in need during emergencies.

The meeting also welcomed new personnel to the Brentwood Fire and Police Departments. Travis Crouch, a firefighter with a commendable background, took the oath of office, marking his transition to the Brentwood team. Crouch's previous accolades include a Bravery Award for a rescue during a structure fire in Chattanooga.

In the police department, two new officers, Julia Davis and Griffin Emerick, were sworn in. Davis, a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, brings a strong academic background in criminology and a family legacy in law enforcement. Emerick, a six-year U.S. Army veteran, also brings valuable experience to the force.
