Owen Valley wastewater treatment site plan deferred for cemetery evaluation

The Williamson County Planning Commission meeting on July 10, 2025, focused on significant site plan reviews, including the Owen Valley wastewater treatment facility and the High Park Hill amenity area.

The commission reviewed the site plan for the Owen Valley treatment facility, which is part of a nontraditional wastewater system serving the Owen Valley subdivision. This facility is located on 374.29 acres off Owen Hill Road. The proposal was deferred from the previous meeting to allow for further evaluations regarding the presence of historical graves on the property. A representative from the State Historic Preservation Office indicated that additional graves might be located in the area, prompting the commission to request the applicant to conduct ground-penetrating radar surveys to delineate the cemetery's boundaries and identify any other historical sites, including remnants of a church and school. The applicant agreed to defer the discussion until the August 2025 meeting to complete these evaluations.

In addition, the commission reviewed the site plan for the High Park Hill amenity area, which encompasses 6.59 acres off Murfreesboro Road. This area will not have any buildable lots but will feature new recreational facilities, including tennis and pickleball courts, as well as bathroom facilities adjacent to the parking lot.

The meeting concluded with motions to defer the Owen Valley project and approve the High Park Hill amenity area, reflecting the commission's commitment to preserving historical sites while enhancing community recreational options.
