Affordable housing projects Lucia and Tower 24 set to open applications soon

During the recent Housing Commission meeting in Carlsbad, officials announced the upcoming availability of affordable housing units, addressing the city's ongoing housing challenges. The meeting highlighted two significant projects that will soon open their waiting lists for applicants.

The first project, named Lucia at Aviara, will feature 12 moderate-income units within a new luxury apartment complex located on the west side of Aviara Parkway, near Palomar Airport Road. Interested applicants can apply starting July 17, with the first 100 applicants being considered for these units. Details on how to apply can be found on the city’s affordable housing webpage.

The second project, Tower 24, is situated in the southwest area of Carlsbad and will offer 86 units, including 13 designated for moderate-income families. These units will consist of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom options, and the selection process will occur through a lottery system in the first week of August. Similar to the Lucia project, application instructions are available on the city’s affordable housing list online.
