The Frederick County Planning Commission convened on July 2, 2025, to discuss various updates and decisions from recent meetings and committee reports. The session began with Mr. Bossard providing insights from the Frederick Water meeting held on June 17. He noted that due to significant rainfall in May, water levels in local quarries have returned to normal, alleviating drought conditions. Additionally, discussions regarding the fluoridation of drinking water will continue as part of ongoing studies.
Following this, Supervisor Leroy addressed the commission, congratulating Kevin Snedden and Betsy Brumbach on their reappointments, which were approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors on June 11. Leroy then outlined several key actions taken by the Board during that meeting.
Notably, an amendment to the Frederick County Code was approved, allowing golf carts at Lake Holiday, also receiving a unanimous vote. However, the application for rezoning at 1124 Route 7 for self-storage was withdrawn by the applicant. Two other rezoning requests, concerning truck trailer parking in the Stonewall District, were postponed to the next Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for July 9 at the request of the applicants.
Lastly, the commission adopted the draft update of the 2025-2026 Frederick County Interstate primary and secondary road improvement plans, again with a unanimous vote. The meeting concluded with no further committee reports or discussions. Overall, the session highlighted significant local developments and preparations for upcoming decisions.
