Construction begins on new parkway with traffic adjustments in Toperville City

Toquerville residents can expect significant changes to local traffic patterns as construction on the new parkway progresses over the next few months. During the recent Planning Commission meeting held on July 10, 2025, officials outlined the construction schedule and traffic management plans that will affect both the north and south sides of the parkway.

Starting in mid-July, construction crews will begin demolishing existing road arcs and installing new storm drains and retaining walls. This work will reduce traffic to one lane in both directions, with full completion anticipated by mid-September. The parkway will feature T-intersections connecting to existing roads, allowing for a continuous flow of traffic while requiring drivers to stop at these junctions.

Additionally, discussions highlighted the need for improved access routes. An easement is being negotiated to facilitate access from Westfield Road to the parkway, which is currently a dirt road crossing private property. Firelight, the property owner, has expressed willingness to cooperate, although their development plans remain pending.

In other updates, the new water tank has been filled and passed all necessary tests, with plans to flush and activate it soon. However, the completion of roadwork is crucial for the opening of new developments, including model homes by Firelight, which are currently on hold until the road is fully operational.

As construction progresses, officials urge residents to remain patient and stay informed about traffic changes and project timelines. The improvements aim to enhance connectivity and support future growth in Toquerville.
