California cannabis advocates support AB 8 for stricter hemp product regulations

Ryan Sherman from the California Narcotics Officers Association also voiced support for the bill, citing concerns over the safety of unregulated hemp products. He noted that AB 8 would implement prohibitions on synthetic cannabis products and enhance the state's ability to inspect and seize unlawful cannabis items. Sherman emphasized that a well-regulated industry is crucial for public safety, particularly for protecting youth from potentially harmful substances.

The meeting included additional endorsements from various organizations, including the California Cannabis Operators Association and the California Cannabis Industry Association, all advocating for the bill's passage. They underscored the importance of regulatory parity between cannabis and hemp markets to ensure consumer safety and fair competition.
