County Administrator presents budget challenges amid calls for increased sheriff salaries

The administrator proposed that approximately $6.1 million could be allocated to address salary increases, which would bring deputy salaries closer to the $60,000 mark, aligning them with firefighter salaries.

The discussion also touched on the importance of maintaining fiscal responsibility, as the county's reserves are not as robust as some may believe. The administrator noted that the county has about $102.5 million in combined reserves, but much of this is restricted or committed, leaving limited flexibility for budget adjustments.
