San Francisco approves golf fee increases and new cost recovery measures

San Francisco County is set to implement a new ordinance aimed at enhancing the financial sustainability of its recreational facilities. During a recent government meeting, officials discussed an amendment to the park code that will introduce a cost recovery surcharge for the use of city golf courses, outdoor event facilities, picnic areas, and athletic fields. This move is designed to help cover stormwater management and other maintenance costs associated with these properties.

Key changes include an increase in golf fees for San Francisco residents at select courses and adjustments to the pricing of golf cards that provide discounts for Pacifica residents at Sharp Park. Additionally, the ordinance will modify weekend hours and restrict senior discounts for residents to weekdays only.

The Recreation and Park Department will also be required to regularly update golf course fees on its website, rather than listing them in the park code, ensuring transparency and accessibility for users. The meeting highlighted the importance of these changes, with officials emphasizing the need for ongoing public engagement and feedback, including a 10-day notice period for fee adjustments.
