Jeff Bass supports Kroger gas station for safer Clear Springs Parkway intersection

During the recent Garland City Council meeting on July 8, 2025, residents voiced their support for a proposal to enhance safety at a busy intersection near a local Kroger store. Jeff Bass, a resident of Clear Springs Parkway, highlighted the dangers of the intersection at Clear Springs Parkway and Shiloh, particularly after a fatal accident occurred in the area years ago. He expressed his concerns about traffic safety and the need for a traffic light to manage the increased flow of vehicles, especially with Kroger's plans to add gas pumps.

Bass emphasized that the community had been well-informed about the proposed changes, noting that the neighborhood's Homeowners Association (HOA) had discussed the matter during their annual meeting attended by around 80 residents. He stated that all notification requirements were met and even exceeded, ensuring transparency in the process.

The proposal to improve the intersection received a warm reception from Bass, who described it as a "blessing" for the community. He appreciated the convenience of having a Kroger nearby, allowing residents to utilize their fuel points without traveling to other locations. Following his remarks, Bass made a motion to approve the proposal as recommended by the applicant, which was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Moore. The council moved forward with the vote, indicating a strong community backing for the safety improvements at this critical intersection.
