Brownsburg Police and Fire Camp engages 200 children in community event

The recent Police Commission meeting in Brownsburg highlighted the successful conclusion of the annual Police and Fire Summer Camp, which took place from June 9 to June 20, 2025. This year, the camp attracted nearly 200 children from Brownsburg and surrounding areas, showcasing the community's strong engagement with local law enforcement and fire services.

Captain Bullock described the camp as the "Super Bowl" of community engagement, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of approximately 25 officers and five civilian staff who contributed to its success. The camp not only provided a fun and educational experience for the children but also fostered a sense of safety and trust between the youth and public safety personnel. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the dedication shown by the staff, who ensured that all safety protocols were followed, including maintaining appropriate counselor-to-child ratios.

A significant contributor to the camp's success was Cindy Bailey, a long-time advocate for the Brownsburg Police Department. In memory of her late husband, she has continued to support community initiatives, including this summer camp, through generous donations. During the meeting, she was recognized with a plaque for her contributions, which left her visibly moved.

Looking ahead, Captain Bullock mentioned the possibility of expanding the camp to accommodate more children in the future. Discussions are underway to secure a dedicated facility, with Lucas Oil Raceway being considered as a potential venue. This move aims to streamline operations and enhance the overall experience for participants.
