El Cajon recognizes sponsors for America on Main Street at city council meeting

The City of El Cajon held a City Council meeting on July 8, 2025, focusing on community engagement and recognition of local sponsors. The meeting commenced with a presentation acknowledging the sponsors of the recent "America on Main Street" event, which saw a significant increase in sponsorship compared to previous years, marking a recovery since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Heather Carter, the Recreation Parks and Recreation Services Manager, led the presentation, expressing gratitude for the sponsors' contributions that made the event possible. She highlighted that the higher-level sponsorships not only supported "America on Main Street" but also upcoming events like the popular "Haunt Fest."

Carter recognized several sponsors, beginning with the premier sponsor, Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, which contributed $20,000. Chris Gomez, representing the organization, expressed their commitment to supporting community events and fostering partnerships with the city.

Kaiser Permanente, a diamond-level sponsor contributing $10,000, also spoke, with a representative thanking the city for its efforts and sharing personal experiences of the benefits provided by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Other sponsors included the Equine Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, who, although unable to attend, conveyed their appreciation for the opportunity to give back to the community. Additional sponsors recognized included Bath Fitter San Diego and several bronze-level sponsors such as Big Bully Turf and Cox Communications.

Carter concluded the presentation by thanking all sponsors for their support and encouraging their participation in future events. The meeting transitioned to a proclamation recognizing the Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee for its 60-year anniversary, further emphasizing the city’s commitment to community collaboration and celebration.
