Bexar County officials launch flood relief efforts for Kerr and Kendall counties

Bexar County officials are mobilizing to support recovery efforts following the devastating flooding that recently impacted the Hill Country, resulting in tragic loss of life and significant community disruption. During a meeting on July 8, 2025, County Judge Nelson Wolff led a moment of silence to honor the victims and highlighted the swift response from Bexar County's emergency management teams.

In the wake of the flooding, which occurred on June 12, Bexar County activated its emergency operations center, deploying resources to assist neighboring Kendall and Kerr Counties. This included the distribution of over 6,000 bottles of water, the establishment of a family reunification center, and the provision of meals for first responders. The county's emergency service districts also contributed by deploying boats and personnel for search and rescue operations.

County officials emphasized the importance of community support, noting that while there has been an overwhelming response in terms of supplies, monetary donations are now being prioritized to assist credible organizations on the ground. The Salvation Army of Kerrville, the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, and the Red Cross of Central and South Texas are among the organizations identified for donations.

County Clerk Lucy Adame Clark urged county employees and the public to contribute gift cards and monetary donations, reinforcing the message that Bexar County stands united in support of those affected by the floods. The meeting also featured discussions on the emotional toll of the disaster on county staff, particularly those in the medical examiner's office, who have been involved in recovery efforts.
