Bexar County approves $3.13 million renovation of juvenile detention center

Bexar County officials have taken a significant step towards enhancing juvenile rehabilitation facilities by approving a major renovation project for the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center. During the recent Commissioners Court meeting, the court authorized a purchase order for Waterman Construction, which submitted the lowest responsive bid of $3,133,943. This amount includes an additional $300,626 for alternate work and a $30,000 contingency, bringing the total award to approximately $3.4 million.

The renovation project, requested by the facilities department, aims to improve the conditions and services provided at the detention center, reflecting a commitment to better support the youth in the county's care.
