The Wantagh Union Free School District (WUFSD) is gearing up for a successful school year, with schools set to open on September 3. During the recent Board of Education meeting, district officials highlighted their preparations, including a productive administrative retreat aimed at ensuring a smooth start for students and staff.
Key updates included the availability of student class information, with elementary and high school schedules now accessible through the parent portal. Middle school schedules will be available starting tomorrow. Faculty and staff are scheduled to return on August 28 for two conference days, setting the stage for an engaging academic year.
Significant renovations have taken place across the district over the summer. The middle school gymnasium received a complete makeover, including a new floor and fresh paint. High school hallways were updated with new ceilings and lighting, and 15 bathrooms were renovated across various schools. Additionally, a roofing project at Wantagh Elementary School and ongoing masonry work at the secondary complex were reported.
The district also focused on enhancing science education, with renovations to science labs at the middle school and the construction of a new science research lab at the high school. These improvements reflect the district's commitment to providing a modern and conducive learning environment.
As the district prepares to welcome students back, the emphasis on facility upgrades and staff readiness signals a strong start to the new school year.
