Colleyville City Council has approved a significant lighting project aimed at enhancing the festive spirit in the community. During the July 1 meeting, council members discussed plans to expand Christmas lighting across 26 medians, extending from Glade Road to Center Park. The project, part of the city’s capital improvement plan, aims to wrap median trees in holiday lights, a request frequently voiced by residents.
The council reviewed bids for the project, ultimately selecting a low bid of $512,000. This figure, while higher than initially anticipated, was deemed reasonable given the complexities involved, including the necessary boring under State Highway 26 to install electrical conduits. Council members expressed their support, emphasizing the importance of moving forward with the project to avoid future cost increases.
In addition to the lighting initiative, the council also addressed a drainage project in partnership with the Woodland Hills Homeowners Association. This project aims to restore an area affected by a collapsed sewer line, which caused significant erosion. The total cost for this project is $69,560, with the HOA contributing $9,229. The council is focused on stabilizing the drainage channel and preventing further erosion, ensuring the area is safe and well-maintained.
These initiatives reflect the council's commitment to enhancing community aesthetics and infrastructure, responding directly to resident feedback and addressing pressing local issues.
