The city has reported a 7.5% reduction in residential burglaries in the first five months of 2025 compared to the previous year, thanks to enhanced crime prevention measures and community engagement. Key initiatives include prioritizing residential burglary alarm calls, which have reduced average response times for deputies from 24 minutes to just 7 minutes.

To further bolster safety, Cerritos has installed automated license plate recognition cameras at 11 high-traffic intersections and increased the number of community safety officers by 66%. Notably, the Cerritos Sheriff's Station has become the first in the area to deploy aerial drones to support patrol operations, enhancing surveillance and response capabilities.
