Council prepares to launch ADU accelerator program following June 25 meeting

The Moraga Town Council is set to launch its much-anticipated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Accelerator Program following their June 25 meeting. This initiative aims to increase the number of ADUs in the area, with council members expressing hope for a significant rise from the current average of just five or six units per year.

During the meeting, staff confirmed that no decisions were made that night, but they will proceed with the program's implementation after June 25. The council showed unanimous support for the initiative, with members nodding and giving thumbs up in agreement. The program is designed to streamline the process for homeowners looking to build ADUs, thereby addressing housing needs in the community.

In addition to the ADU discussion, the council reviewed upcoming meeting schedules. The next regular meeting is set for August 27, with a special meeting on July 9 focused on the town manager's review. Town Manager Scott highlighted that the budget is in place to support the new initiatives, including the legislative platform and a contract with Tri Cities.

As Moraga moves forward with the ADU Accelerator Program, the council is optimistic about enhancing housing options and fostering community growth.
