Crystal Lake hosts veteran event as construction begins on Mill Pond Dam

Burrillville residents are set to engage in a community cleanup effort at Mill Pond Dam this fall, following a recent Town Council meeting where officials discussed the ongoing construction project. The dam will be drained at a rate of three inches per day, allowing volunteers to help remove debris from the shoreline, which is expected to expand by 20 feet as water levels decrease. Council members are encouraging individuals and community groups to participate in this initiative, scheduled for September and October, to help restore the area.

In addition to the cleanup plans, the meeting highlighted several community achievements. Desiree Dolan was recognized for her promotion to assistant general manager of the local crew, a role she earned after receiving a regional award earlier this year. The council also celebrated Mackenzie Clary, a recent high school graduate who became a two-time state champion in Girls' Academy sports.
