The Sussex County Council meeting held on February 4, 2025, commenced with a heartfelt recognition of volunteers who contributed to the Carolina on the Circle food drive. County Administrator Mister Lawson opened the session by thanking attendees and highlighting the significant impact of the food drive, which collected over 18,000 items for distribution within Sussex County.

The meeting featured the presentation of certificates and plaques to various organizations and individuals who participated in the food drive. The recognition began with Georgetown Middle School, which donated 75 items, followed by Home Depot with 160 items. Local business Shardon Jewelers contributed $100, resulting in 250 items, while Little Einstein Preschool donated 260 items.

The Delaware Family Court in Sussex County was acknowledged for donating 450 items. McGee Motors made a monetary contribution of $500, equating to 1,250 items. First State Manufacturing donated $750, resulting in 1,875 items, and Aloft contributed $794 along with 17 items, totaling 2,002 items.

The highlight of the recognition was Rehoboth Elementary School, which emerged as the top food item donor with an impressive 2,600 items. The meeting concluded with a special acknowledgment of the law office of Fuquay, Willard, and Schwab, which made the largest monetary donation of $1,200, translating to 3,000 items.

Mister Lawson expressed gratitude to all participants for their time, energy, and financial contributions, emphasizing the collective effort that made the food drive a success in supporting the less fortunate in Sussex County.
