The Jurupa Valley Planning Commission meeting on June 25, 2025, highlighted the winners of the city's inaugural "Best Yard" program, aimed at promoting community beautification. The program recognized outstanding residential properties across five districts, with winners and runners-up selected based on their landscaping and upkeep.

In District 1, the winner was 5839 Steve Street, with 4654 Dapple Lane as the runner-up. District 2 saw 5522 Starling Drive take first place, while 11875 Sanderling Way was the runner-up. For District 3, 778 Longs Peak Drive was awarded the top spot, with 4446 Jericho Street following as the runner-up. District 4, which had the most nominees, recognized 2545 Sandra Drive as the winner and 6125 Tarragona Drive as the runner-up. Finally, District 5's winner was 7135 Peralta Place, with 7195 Alviso Avenue as the runner-up.

The commission plans to notify the winners and invite them to a city council meeting on July 17 for formal recognition. The program is set to become an annual spring tradition, with hopes to expand participation and improve marketing efforts for next year.

During the meeting, commissioners also discussed the potential for setting a cap on the number of nominations per district to streamline the selection process. Suggestions included using banners to raise awareness for the program.

In addition to the yard program, commissioners commended the city for the recent demolition of the Sizzler restaurant, which has improved the area's appearance. They also acknowledged local firefighters for their efforts in combating recent fires and encouraged residents to support local businesses.

The meeting concluded with discussions about community events, including the successful Jurupa Pro Rodeo, which attracted visitors from various regions and received positive feedback from attendees. The commissioners expressed gratitude for the community's involvement and support in making these events successful.
