Leander City Council has taken significant steps toward enhancing local infrastructure during its recent workshop on June 25, 2025. A key focus of the meeting was the ongoing roadway expansion projects, particularly the transformation of County Road 175 from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane urban thoroughfare. This upgrade aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the area, with an estimated cost of $10 million, of which the city will contribute approximately $2 million.

The project is currently in the design phase, expected to be completed by summer 2026, with the entire initiative projected to wrap up by 2028. City officials emphasized the importance of this expansion, noting that it aligns with the city’s thoroughfare plan and addresses existing traffic concerns, especially at the intersection of County Road 175 and 2243, which has been identified as hazardous.

Additionally, discussions highlighted the need for collaboration with local school districts regarding their contributions to infrastructure improvements. The school district had previously committed funds towards the project but expressed concerns over changes in road alignment that could affect their financial responsibilities. City officials reassured that the school district would still be involved in the planning process to ensure that their needs are met.

Other projects discussed included enhancements to the Hero Way corridor, which is also undergoing expansion to improve connectivity and traffic management. The council is actively working on an interlocal agreement with the county to facilitate these developments.
